Gloss of APIs, API proxies and API Gateways

Experience of booking flight tickets or holidays. :)

Session details

Nowadays APIs and API integrations are part of any web applications. So in this session we are going to discuss about the Importance and the relationship between the APIs and API proxies / API gateways. API Proxy decouples the frontend of the API from the backend services and filters all incoming and outgoing traffic. API Gateways are a part of larger API Management platforms since they play a part in the larger API lifecycle. This can introduce more complexity and can make them more difficult to manage and more expensive. Gateways must be maintained like any other bit of code and if you want to take advantage of the all the additional features then the level of complexity will increase. So we will be discussing the following points in details

  1. What is

    1. APIs ?

    3. API Gateways?

  2. Why you need API proxy?

  3. What all are the tools available to create API proxies and Gateways?
